Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World

Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World is an oldschool game that takes you back a couple of years in terms of graphics and gameplay. It’s a top-down shooter that aspires to a 3D view and puts out some very decent pixelated graphics.

Stranded among man-eating dinosaurs

In Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World you find yourself left in the middle of the jungle where dinosaurs roam free and not all of them are human friendly. With no time to spare, you start to make your way across the land, carrying what looks to be a dinosaur taser-gun.
As you roam around, you find armor, a machinegun, ammo, tranquilizer darts and even a shotgun. Mind the ammo though, except for that of the taser, the rest is limited and it’s much more effective against the dinosaurs.

Retro gameplay with plenty of charm

In terms of graphics, Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World won’t impress the newer generations but if you’re a SEGA fan, you’ll love this emulation. The audio is annoyingly repetitive, controls are simple and aiming at the dinosaurs is sometimes way too strange.
At one point in the game, after a bit of exploring, you find an abandoned car with a built-in computer that holds information about a lot of things. Here you find out what your mission is, and a lot about the dinosaurs you have to face. It even comes with a scanner that reveals the map and what lies on it.
Moreover, the game can be played as in co-op or versus modes, enabling you and a friend to challenge each other.

Oldschool fun for the kids

On a closing note, Jurassic Park 2 - The Lost World isn't really a game you’ll be playing because it’s super awesome, but because it’s a fragment of gaming history. And it all fairness, in its simplicity it does offer quite a good chunk of fun.
