High Noon Revolver

Being a sheriff is not as exciting as it once was in America, at least not in most towns. However, the job was extremely dangerous a hundred years ago, especially since there were many people who didn’t really care about the law or anything of the sort. Hence, they did as they pleased and sometimes shot everyone who stood in their way, including cops.

Fight the monsters and protect your town

High Noon Revolver is a simple, yet engaging shoot ‘em up with a few roguelike elements in there to make the experience feel fresh. In essence, your role is to shoot everything that moves and avoid the enemy bullets in order to stay alive. You are rewarded with gold and various power-ups along the way, which help you deal with tougher and tougher enemies, including bosses.
As for the story, it all starts with a sheriff and his son, who are attacked by a gang of bandits that came to loot the town. Naturally, the sheriff is killed and the son takes his place, swearing revenge on the bandits in question. You can play as him or choose one of the two other characters, and they each have special abilities and different weapons.

Purchase power-ups with the gold you find along the way

After each tough fight you are rewarded with a chest that allows you to purchase one of three possible power-ups. These power-ups cost gold, and you can use the one you have managed to collect along the way. Depending on the chosen character, these power-ups are actually quite useful, although it may take you a while until you learn how to make full use of them.
In regards to graphics, the pixel art is decent, but don’t expect too much detail either. As a matter of fact, the levels feel very empty and repetitive, probably because nothing much changes in the background. Thankfully, at least the soundtrack is jolly and quite entertaining, which keeps you from getting bored and even makes you laugh every now and again.

A nice time waster for shoot ‘em up fans

In the end, High Noon Revolver may not have a great replay value, but it can be entertaining over short periods of time. Moreover, it also has a few funny moments and quite the challenging gameplay mechanics to keep you on edge at all times.
