Description

Fantasy games can be rather repetitive when it comes to the stories they feature and the universes they take place in, mainly because it’s pretty difficult to come up with something entirely original nowadays. Everyone likes elves, orcs and demons, so it’s much easier and safer to go for that instead of creating something entirely new.

Run from the knights and save the kingdom from evil

Long Live The King is a fantasy action game with adventure and RPG elements thrown into the mix, in which your role is to destroy monsters and defeat the evil forces once and for all. There are not many original elements when it comes to the story or the gameplay, but at least you can explore a somewhat unique world. Unfortunately, the world itself is mostly empty and unimpressive as well.
The story is not particularly exciting, since it starts with the main character being hounded by what appear to be Templar knights. Naturally, you manage to escape them by jumping through the window, since no one ever thinks about watching out for that. As for the rest of the plot, it all revolves around the evil king who’s terrorizing the realm and must be stopped somehow.

Defeat monsters and explore the world

Exploration is an important part of the gameplay, but don’t expect to enjoy it too much. Most of the forests and other areas are very poorly designed, full of invisible walls and repetitive objects that can cause a lot of frustration. In addition, the combat is poorly implemented as well, not to mention the fact that you rarely know what you should be doing or where you should be heading.
The graphics don’t make up for the lack of content either, although they appear quite decent at first. It’s merely an illusion, on the other hand, because the repetitive textures and poorly designed objects get on your nerves after the first minutes, not to mention the awful level design. The controls are terrible as well, since it takes a long time to learn how to dodge the invisible walls.

Too many flaws to be enjoyable

In the end, Long Live The King may look somewhat flashy at first, but there are too many things wrong with it to be any fun. Thus, you are much better off trying other games instead of this one if you value your sanity.
