Description
Nuclear Autumn is what you get when you combine a simple yet appealing visual style with great level design and excellent gameplay. This little game is one of the many wonderful results of LudumDare 32 - An Unconventional Weapon.
Find out more about Professor Janus discovery
In the game, you play as Professor Janus who has learned the secret of humanity’s final weapon. The game is silently self-narrated meaning that there is no piece of information which will tell you what you have to do, or where you have to go. Nuclear Autumn is that kind of game in which a big part of the thrill is delivered through discovery. Each new item you come across opens up the game even more and surprisingly, despite its small size, this game packs a lot of depth.
Pure and excellent platformer gameplay
Nuclear Autumn’s smooth and well-crafted gameplay is the first thing you fall in love with. The controls are simple, basic actually, but the way you move about the game world, makes everything super enjoyable. Also, while the controls are easy to learn, the futuristic facility you find yourself in is rather tough to navigate, precision jumps are key.
Like most good games, Nuclear Autumn features a nearly perfect soundtrack. Given the fast-paced nature of the game, the score makes this little title totally immersive and engaging. You can’t but get into the groove of the mood and play.
A wonderful experience from start to finish
Nuclear Autumn is by all means a game you have to play if you’re a fan of platformers. It looks simple but it has a lot to offer for something that was built in less than two days.
