Description
Driving a car is stressful enough under normal conditions, let alone when you have to transport precious goods using a heavy truck. Things get even more difficult if the terrain is in poor condition, such is the case in rural areas, or around construction sites. Hence, a lot of patience and care are required in order avoid accidents and get the cargo to destination.
Deliver fragile cargo without damaging it
Truck Driver 3D is a simulator that challenges you to drive through challenging environments while trying not to drop the load you are carrying. The game aims to be a simulator when it comes to physics and handling, but there are just too many things wrong with it for that to be the case. Even so, you can have moderate amounts of fun with it under the right conditions.
To begin with, there is only one level available in the beginning, and you have to get enough money to unlock the next ones. However, making a perfect run does not guarantee a good enough payoff to unlock the next stages, so you are often forced to play levels multiple times. This becomes annoying and repetitive in a rush, especially since the mechanics are frustrating.
Poor simulation and annoying controls
Your truck responds chaotically to the terrain it navigates, since a simple bump in the road can send your cargo flying, but at the same time you can cut corners and clip through concrete walls, because the collision system is broken. Thus, the experience is anything but consistent, making it difficult to stay excited about the game for more than a few minutes at a time.
The controls are not helping either, since the truck responds with a slight delay to your input. This wouldn’t be a huge problem on its own, but there already are too many flaws you have to accept at this point. Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about, but they are not ugly either, so at least this part is not as bad as everything else about the game.
Too many annoyances to be worth the effort
When it’s all said and done, Truck Driver 3D is not the kind of game you play to relax, because it has too many flaws to be entertaining. In addition, you can get the same experience in other games that are much more polished.
