Description
Driving a car can be a fun experience under the right circumstances, but it can also be time-consuming, dangerous and boring, especially during rush hours or in poor weather conditions. Thus, sometimes video games are a much better alternative, given the fact that there are no real-world consequences if you make mistakes or decide to cause an accident on purpose.
Drive around the map and push the cars to their limits
Car Simulator 3D is a driving simulator that provides you with three cars and two maps to choose from, as well as an arcade physics simulation when it comes to the cars themselves. Unfortunately, the experience is not as fun as it sounds at first, because the maps are quite small, the landscapes are dull, and there’s no traffic to put your skills to the test.
In fact, the only thing you can do is explore the maps, which are quite disappointing most of the time. There are different weather conditions as well, but they do not seem to have an effect on the actual gameplay, which is yet another annoyance. The lack of traffic leaves you with empty roads and no kind of obstacles, except of course for the bends in the road that force you to slow down.
Total your car if you feel like it
The only interesting thing about Car Simulator 3D is the fact that you can damage the vehicles as you see fit, although you shouldn’t expect realistic deformations or anything of the sort. However, at least it’s possible to completely wreck the cars and get in all sorts of accidents, which should be fun for a few minutes. Unfortunately, the good times end there, so you have very little actual content.
Lastly, the graphics are fairly disappointing as well, although they wouldn’t be too much of an issue in normal circumstances. The lack of content makes the poor level design a lot more obvious, not to mention the fact that the cockpit view is very basic as well. Not much can be said about the sound effects either, although this is the least of the game’s problems.
A nice starting point for an actual game
In the end, Car Simulator 3D feels more like a prototype than an actual game, which is a bit of an issue. Hence, the lack of a clear purpose, large maps, traffic or realistic car handling makes the experience feel cheap and unfulfilling.
