Description
It’s simple to understand why it’s always a good idea to have a good defense against attackers, because just knowing that you are well guarded can deter potential enemies. However, putting your defense plans in action is no easy task either, given the fact that many things can go wrong in the heat of battle. There are many examples of exquisite fortresses from back in the day, and some of them managed to keep attackers at bay after years of siege.
Protect your base with warriors and spells
Protect Our Land is a simple strategy game in which you have to defend against attackers by sending troops and casting spells to defeat your enemies. Simple drag-and-drop gameplay mechanics allow anyone to play the game with ease, regardless of past experience with the genre, but at the same time they can also discourage more experienced players.
In short, there are a couple of lanes that have to be defended, and enemies randomly appear on each one of them. The goal is to place troops on the said lanes and have them kill the opponents as quickly as possible. Sometimes multiple units are required to take on a single enemy, although you can also use powerful magic spells to gain the upper hand.
Gather coins to purchase more troops
Each monster you defeat drops a few coins, and you have to collect them in order to afford more troops of your own. Energy is also an important component, because it allows you to cast the spells that get you out of trouble when things get tough. Furthermore, better units become available later on, some of which are better at tackling specific enemies.
Given the simplicity of the game, you shouldn’t expect an awful lot in the graphics department either. The artwork is fairly colorful and enjoyable, but the animations are very basic and repetitive, and the backgrounds never change either. This causes boredom from early on, since it feels like you are not getting anywhere regardless of your efforts.
A few nice ideas wrapped in a boring package
Although Protect Our Land borrows its ideas from classics like Plants vs. Zombies, the formula is oversimplified in this case, and it’s difficult to stay excited for more than a few minutes. Thus, more content and variety is needed to keep the players engaged for longer periods of time.
