Cars are a fairly popular hobby, so it’s only natural that most children dream of someday building their own car.

Genius Car is an interesting sandbox game in which the goal is to build a car and use it to explore a challenging environment full of nasty obstacles. Naturally, the best thing about the game is that you are free to customize the vehicle in a variety of ways, as well as decide for yourself whether it’s going to resemble the classic car designs, or if it’s going to be something entirely new.
Naturally, you have to use pre-existing pieces to put together the vehicle, and these come in the form of blocks and tubes, as well as slightly more advanced components, such as springs, suspensions and entire wheels. They must all go together one way or the other, but it’s also important for the overall design to be fairly sturdy, given the rough environment.

Try not to smash your creation to bits

Driving the vehicle around is a whole other matter, because it depends on how the car is designed. Some designs are easier to handle than others, while some provide more protection at the cost of being tougher to maneuver. A bigger shock or jump can turn your whole vehicle into bits, so it’s important to reach a balance between thoughtful design and careful driving.

However, the most annoying thing of all is the interface itself, because it’s difficult to work with the pieces when the interface is so lackluster. Furthermore, you also have to constantly move the camera around using the mouse, even while driving, and it’s not as smooth as it should be.

A decent sandbox game that needs more work

Even if Genius Car is a very tantalizing concept, there are better examples out there, and this one needs a lot more work before the fun factor exceeds the frustration you feel playing it. Thus, the awful controls and terrible interface make it very difficult for you to enjoy yourself.
