Description
Mk5 is one of those nice skill games that comes in Flash wrapping. In it you have to control a little helicopter that’s freshly off the production line. Before it can go about its official duties, it needs to pass some factory-grade testing that involves the use of lasers.
Avoiding lasers, that’s all you need to focus on
The gameplay to Mk5 is very simple in concept but gets rather difficult as you play. You control the little chopper with the arrow keys or the standard FPS w,a,s,d, and in each round you have to collect a number of power cells before you can move on to the next one.
Each power cell you grab, triggers the appearance of a fixed laser that fires at regular intervals. When you pickup a cell, the next one appears at a random location, and you need to carefully make your way through the death traps to get to it.
A standard skill game
At its core, Mk5 is a skill game because it requires a lot of it when there are five or six lasers in a level. Since they activate at different times, it becomes difficult to keep track of all of them, and that’s when you start to focus on a lot of things. However, the lasers are not your only worry. There will be mobile saw blades and loads of other helicopter flying about. As I said, it’s a skill game.
The helicopter ever so slightly falls to the ground if you don’t remind it to stay in the air and apart from collecting the power cells, you’ll be tempted to pick up a few types of power-ups.
You can spend a decent amount of time with it
On a closing note, Mk5 is a nice little title that you can use to kill some time. It’s easy to play, it gets challenging and each level you pass does give you a bit of satisfaction.
