Description
It’s not that difficult to develop a fun game that keeps players engaged, but it requires a bit of imagination and the dedication to come up with something original. Hence, most authentic concepts have a real shot at success, while clones usually end up in the shadow of the original. On the other hand, there are no actual rules about this, so anything is technically possible.
Destroy your enemies and unlock better planes
Bombzey Island is an arcade shoot ‘em up in which you control planes, and your task is to take out enemies using the onboard missiles and bombs. The task is more difficult than it sounds, especially since the planes in question are quite difficult to control. On the other hand, the arcade gameplay mechanics allow you to quickly restart the level and try again with no penalty.
Speaking of which, you are free to choose from multiple planes, each one of which has different abilities, weapons and specifications. Some of them are very slow and cumbersome, while others are fast and precise. Unfortunately, only two of them are available at the beginning, which means that you have to work hard in order to acquire currency and unlock the rest of the planes.
Watch out for heat-seeking missiles
The enemies have powerful weapons at their disposal as well, including heat-seeking missiles that almost always hit their mark. In fact, some planes are not even capable of dodging or evading them, so it’s technically a sure hit if you are ever targeted. Thankfully, the planes can be upgraded as well once you gather enough points, although even that can be a lot of work in the beginning.
As for the graphics, Bombzey Island looks pretty modest, but then again it was designed to run on mobile devices as well. Even if the engine was tweaked a little bit to look better on the PC, you shouldn’t expect too much. In addition, the controls are a bit wonky as well, and it’s quite clear that this was designed to run on smartphones first and foremost.
A nice distraction for when you need a break
All in all, Bombzey Island is not a very complex game, but then again it doesn’t need to be. Hence, as long as you can get used to the clunky controls and the simple graphics, this could certainly keep you busy for a while.
