One of the common themes in thrillers and action games is the one where a small band of heroes takes on a huge company that controls everything. Naturally, they manage to bring it down in the end, mainly due to the fact that the ones in charge of the company do not take the threat seriously until it’s already too late to prevent its demise.

An obsolete robot goes on a rampage

Apparatus Technology is a 3D action-platformer featuring a small robot by the name of Alex as the protagonist. The gameplay is very fast-paced and twitchy, which means that you need good reflexes in order to stay alive throughout the levels and avoid the enemy bullets. Not only that, but you must also avoid the pits and holes that try to swallow you hole along the way.
In short, the story revolves around a powerful company by the name of Apparatus Technology, which decides that the robot named Alex is obsolete and they try to eliminate it. Naturally, Alex manages to escape his fate, which prompts a crusade against the said company. However, the building is obviously guarded by all sorts of soldiers and machines, which makes the task even more dangerous.

Use your special abilities to stay alive

Alex has a few tricks that you can make use of whenever things get tough, such as the assault drone or his strong suit. These can be activated if you have enough energy, and they make combat a bit easier by providing you with extra firepower or more armor points. On the other hand, it’s wise to save them for when they really come in handy, such as during a boss fights.
You can also upgrade your abilities along the way to decrease their cooldown or make them more powerful, but there are only a handful of chances to do this. Lastly, the graphics are a bit too simple sometimes, which is mostly because of the lazy level design. Hence, most stages look the same, which hurts the overall experience and makes it difficult to stay in the proper mood.

A difficult, but pretty fun platformer

In the end, Apparatus Technology might cause a fair amount of frustration in players, but it can also be rewarding if you learn how to properly control the character. On the other hand, the twitchy controls might be a bit too much for most of the casual gamers out there.
