Description
Despite your opinion on the matter, people do not choose where they are born and how, so it’s really quite absurd to judge someone based on their birthplace. Hence, some countries are better than others, which is why people choose to go from one to the other hoping for a better life. Granted, many of these people prefer to bypass the law and cross the border illegally.
Avoid the border patrol and make it out alive
Borders is a simple stealth game in which your goal is to make it into the country through the desert, by bypassing the border patrol and staying hydrated all the way through. The gameplay mechanics are very simple and straightforward, but the game itself can be quite challenging, at least when it comes to staying hidden and trying not to bump into any police officers.
To begin with, it must be stated that the game is designed to come as close to the real thing as possible, at least in theory. Thus, staying hydrated is one of the biggest problems border jumpers have to face in the desert. This is also your problem as well, because you lose water whenever you move. In order to find more you have to explore the map, which is a pretty dangerous thing to do.
Hide in the bushes and avoid being seen
To avoid being seen, you have to stay outside the guard’s line of sight, which is easier said than done. The policemen patrol the area on a regular basis, so you have to watch out for them and try to learn their routes. However, you can also force your luck and move at random, which is when the bushes come in handy. There are not many of them, but they allow you to escape prying eyes by staying hidden in them.
As for the graphics, everything in the game is designed using one of the two or three textures available, which means that the whole thing has the tendency to become repetitive after a while. Thankfully, you are usually too busy keeping an eye out for enemies to bother with how everything looks, so it shouldn’t be that much of a problem in the end.
A challenging game that could be improved in the future
All things considered, Borders is quite fun, especially if you enjoy sneaking around and getting by unnoticed. On the other hand, the game is too simple to stay fun for more than a few minutes.
