Description
Radically Inlined is a vivid arcade game that was created by a group of four students from the Vancouver Film School. It’s inspired from the 90s and everything you see or hear in it represents that period.
Roller blade through trippy streets with your jet powered boombox
Your character in the game is a chick who’s really good at skating. So much so that she skates without any safety precautions while holding a 90s standard large boombox. She collects cassettes to boost her speed, performs powerslides into the robot enemies to gain more time, and can unleash some killer power stomps.
The gameplay mechanics that went into this game are close to perfect. It’s a concept that would do very well if someone decided to dedicate time to it. The reason for that is not because the world is full of 90s reminiscent people, but because it has a great upbeat vibe, fast-paced action, and precision gameplay.
I can almost feel Flavor Flav wanting to jump into this one
Throughout the game I could not help but think that cheering me on was a younger LL Cool J. I mean, the robots have dark sunglasses, bandanas and at some point I think I saw robots wearing the giant clocks Flavor Flav would put around his neck. Not sure about that last one, it all happens so fast.
From this day on, if someone asks me what the 90s was like, I’ll have them play this game. Although, I’m pretty sure they’ll miss the double hint with the “Mubendo Playboy†ads that can be seen on the buildings. The game is full of 90s masked references.
An excellent game concept that’s well-executed
To end, I’m a bit upset that this was such a short game. I guess it was expected since it’s built for educational purposes. Nonetheless, should anyone wish to go forward with this idea, it’s going to be one sweet game.
