Description
Transporting fragile cargo is still a very difficult task, regardless of how advanced our technology has become. Granted, we are much better at it than in the past, especially thanks to the new packaging methods used. A lot of care and patience are still needed in order to get the goods in one piece to their destination, and the game at hand allows you to experience the challenge.
Get the watermelons to the destination
Watermelon Driver is an arcade puzzle game in which you have to get a cart from one end of the level to the other by rotating the whole level instead of moving the cart itself. It’s a pretty interesting set of gameplay mechanics, but you need a bit of practice before you can properly take advantage of them. Thankfully, there are plenty of levels to go through, so there’s definitely time.
Your most important goal is to avoid dropping the watermelon along the way, because that causes a full level reset. On the other hand, it’s also important to keep moving, because you get nowhere by standing still. Rotating the level is very tricky, on the other hand, because you need to compensate in the opposite direction as smoothly as possible to get the desired effects.
Overcome various obstacles along the way
To make things even worse, there are all sorts of ramps and obstacles you have to avoid as you race toward the finish line, and most of them require quite a bit of planning. Thankfully, there is no time limit to constrain you, so it should be fairly simple to take your time and think of a proper approach. Luck is needed sometimes as well, but it’s not wise to base all of your strategies on luck alone.
Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about, but they are not ugly either. The colorful levels can get a tad repetitive after a while, especially since not much changes in the background, but you can get over that if you concentrate on the action. The music is a bit annoying as well, given the fact that it gets on your nerves after a few minutes of continuous playback.
A unique game with decent replay value
Even if it’s not very polished when it comes to physics and gameplay mechanics, Watermelon Driver can be quite addictive, especially if you like a challenge. Thus, there are plenty of levels to keep you playing for a while, as well as a high score system to keep you coming back for better results.
