Description

Certain games are much more enjoyable if the gameplay mechanics are as simple as possible, although that’s not always the case. Casual gamers enjoy basic concepts, mainly because games are just a minor distraction for them whenever they have nothing better to do. Triple-A productions, on the other hand, they have to satisfy millions of seasoned gamers that know exactly what they want.

Balance houses, trees and concrete block atop of a mountain

Tippy Towns is a balance game that’s about as basic as it gets in regards to the underlying idea, but the gameplay mechanics are quite intricate and enjoyable. Thus, the goal is to place stones, trees and houses on a platform that’s sitting on top of a mountain. Naturally, patience is very important, as is your ability to calculate how certain structures are going to affect the equilibrium.
Resources are very important, because they allow you to build more structures and keep everything in the balance. Stone is needed to build towers, but both the towers and the stone itself have a certain weight, so a bit of thinking is required beforehand. Besides stone, wood and population are important resources as well, and they have to be taken into consideration if you want to expand.

Reach certain goals to unlock more levels

There are challenges you must complete in order to unlock other levels, and they all require you to reach a certain population, or amount a precise quantity of a specific resource. It’s not very easy to do so most of the time, so it might take you some time to get used to the requirements. On the other hand, that’s the whole point of the game, so it can get pretty addictive.
Not much can be said about the graphics, because they are kept as simple as possible, which should allow everyone to give the game a try. Unfortunately, the vertical display ratio makes it feel a lot like a mobile port, and it might prove to be annoying for PC users. It’s not a major issue, but it would be nice to see more effort in regards to PC optimization.

An addictive game for casual players

Even if it has the potential to get boring in a rush, Tippy Towns can be very addictive in the right circumstances, especially if you don’t like to back down from a challenge. Moreover, there are plenty of levels to toy with, and the gameplay is always different.
