Starbot

Robots may look cool in movies, and they may even be presented as friends to the humans around them, but we have yet to build something friendly and sociable. Instead, most of our robots are designed for repetitive and difficult tasks, such as working on the assembly line or in environments where humans wouldn't be able to survive very long.

A robot with a star as a friend

Starbot is a top-down RPG in which you play the role of a robot created to handle chores and all sorts of other activities around the house. In essence, this is more of an adventure game than an actual RPG, because there are not many ways to improve your character or make any changes whatsoever in this regard. There are, however, plenty of nice quests and missions you can undertake.
To begin with, the whole thing starts with the main character being turned on by its creator. After this, it is sent here and there to deal with a few minor chores, although bigger missions await it as well. However, every time the robot is turned off it travels to a different world, where it befriends a star and explores all sorts of interesting environments in good company.

Solve simple puzzles and enjoy the dialog

Starbot is by no means a difficult game, but there are some things you need to keep an eye for. Sloths are the most dangerous things in the game, since you automatically respawn at the last checkpoint if you happen to touch one. However, the puzzles are pretty intriguing as well, even if most of them require you to gather certain objects or unlock a specific door.
As for the graphics, everything has been kept as simple as possible, but the game still looks very good, somehow. In fact, the atmosphere is very calming and enjoyable, in spite of the fact that all you see on the screen are a couple of straight lines and solid colors. Naturally, the soundtrack helps a lot, and there are actually quite a few tracks that can stick with you.

A wonderful game for casual RPG fans

In the end, Starbot may not win any awards in the story department, but the mood and the general atmosphere are incredibly nice. Moreover, the plot may be simple, but it feels very cozy and relatable, somehow.
