Me And Post Apocalypse

Post-apocalyptic video games are as common as Bejeweled clones nowadays, especially since modern game engines are mostly free and they do not require a lot of experience. On the other hand, it’s still a struggle to find good examples, mainly because freedom is very important in a game that technically encourages exploration.

Kill zombies and collect all types of weapons

Me And Post Apocalypse is a first-person shooter that throws you in the middle of an open world with a single purpose: survival. The whole goal is to accomplish a couple of objectives by reaching various checkpoints around the map, but the most important thing is to fend off the enemies that try to bring your progress to a halt. Thankfully, there are plenty of weapons you can use to stay alive and shoot whoever gets too close.
Although you start with a sword, it’s worth noting that melee weapons are hardly effective against armed enemies, not to mention the fact that you have to get very close in order to strike. Since the enemies have perfect aim and can spot you from great distances, charging with a katana is not the best strategy. On the other hand, there are many rifles, shotguns and pistols to find along the way as well.

Basic graphics and stiff gameplay

Unfortunately, the action feels very cheap and rough, given the fact that no matter what you use to shoot the enemies, the effect is the same, regardless of caliber or the part of the body you hit. It would be nice to rejoice at the sight of a headshot, but it actually doesn’t matter where you shoot, which is a huge bummer. You also regenerate health after each kill, which comes in handy, but it ruins the survival aspect.
Lastly, the graphics fail to impress as well, since there’s nothing new or exciting in this regard. Most of the game world is barren and boring, except for a few zones that feature the occasional building or pond. The enemy animations are poorly designed too, but they would matter less if the gameplay mechanics were engaging enough.

A casual experience with not a lot of content

All things considered, Me And Post Apocalypse does not have what it takes to keep you busy for more than a few minutes, but then again that can be enough as well. Hence, at least you get to shoot at zombies and handle a few interesting weapons.
