Rocket Smash EX is an arcade game that’s as retro as can be. It’s so retro you can actually play it directly on a Commodore 64 using an actual cartridge. If you have no idea what a C46 is, don’t worry, the game comes with a Vice emulator that works perfectly so you can enjoy the game anyway.

Repair your ship, gather fuel and move on to more danger

In Rocket Smash EX you play the role of a stranded astronaut who has a really bad day. Your ship has crash landed on an alien planet and its inhabitants are all set to have you for lunch. To make sure that doesn’t happen, you need to fix your spaceship, fill it with fuel and get the heck out of here.
The game offers several levels in which you have to do more or less the same thing but the layout changes and the aliens do as well. So, gameplay won’t get tedious, not at all. Rocket Smash EX is a bit tough by default and if you switch it to Hard you really get a kick out of the whole thing.

Visually, it’s as retro as they get and it looks and plays wonderfully

Rocket Smash EX looks very authentic. You might get a bit of a flashback if you’ve been around when C64’s were around and blooming. The visuals are a pixel-delight and the chiptune that seths the rhythm to the game is just great
As far as gameplay is concerned, it’s easy to pick up and a bit hard to master but you’ll get there. Nonetheless, Rocket Smash EX is a really fun game to play, it’s an arcader in the true sense of the word.

Something you really need to try if you’re looking to unwind like it’s 1990

On a closing note, Rocket Smash EX is really neat. It’s simple, clean, engaging and well crafted. You can’t but help to smile while playing it.
