The Box Brigade

Cats are great companions and fun pets, at least sometimes, depending on their mood and upbringing. However, they are definitely not hard workers, especially not when their schedule includes twenty hours of sleep throughout the day. Hence, it’s funny to imagine a world where kittens would have to hold full-time jobs and carry their own weight in life.

A team of dedicated cats moving boxes

The Box Brigade is an arcade game in which you have to help a team of cats move boxes that fall from the sky and make sure they get to the truck in one piece. It’s a simple idea in theory, but the gameplay is challenging enough to put you to the test, or at least hone your reflexes. Granted, the experience is rather short, but you can replay the game multiple times and still be entertained.
Your task is pretty simple, yet still quite challenging. Hence, you have to click and drag the kittens to where the boxes are about to drop, otherwise they get damaged and you lose a life point. The kittens then take the boxes and carry them to the truck, and you can provide them with help or speed boosts along the way, while still paying attention to any other boxes that might drop.

Careful with bombs and heavy boxes

Some of the boxes are bigger and heavier than others, which means that the cats struggle to carry them. They fall after a few feet, and you have to click on them in order to help them back up. In addition, some of the packages that drop are actually bombs, and you have to quickly throw them away to avoid destroying the truck and damaging everything you’ve managed to carry so far.
As for the visual style, the 2D pixel graphics are perfect for the game, even if everything is rather basic in regards to level design. On the other hand, the conditions change the more you manage to survive, since it gets dark and it starts to rain after a while. The sound effects are pretty funny as well, which helps with the overall atmosphere.

A neat little game that puts a smile on your face

Even if it has the potential to become repetitive in a rush, The Box Brigade is still a pretty fun game, especially if you do not mind the rather fast pace of the action. In addition, the difficulty level is just right to put your reflexes and reaction speed to the test.
