Description
Butterflies are pretty fascinating creatures, and not just because they come out of caterpillars. Some species only come out once every few decades, and they put on quite a show when the day arrives. In addition, they are pretty helpful when it comes to spreading pollen and helping plants reproduce and spread, just like bees and various other insects.
Resurrect butterflies using a magic ritual
Elemorphis is a simple puzzle game that can easily become addictive, especially if you enjoy the trial and error method. In short, your task is to use a handful of elements in order to resurrect butterflies, but the mechanics are a tad more complicated than just that. Granted, it’s quite simple after you get used to everything, but there are many things you can still do even after that.
You start with four elements, and you can combine any three of them in order to obtain a particular butterfly. However, it is also possible to use three of the same kind, so the number of possibilities is quite great. These elements represent things like fire, stone and nature, but not all of them are unlocked. In order to unlock the others, you have to stumble onto particular combinations on your own.
Follow the patterns for the resurrection to succeed
After the elements are chosen, the butterfly can be brought to life by following the pattern of five blinking symbols. The computer goes first, and you have to reproduce them in order to complete the ritual. Each butterfly is then placed in a slot, where it remains until the game ends or you decide to let it go. Thanks to this, you can prevent the game from ending for as long as you wish.
Each butterfly is unique, and its color and wing pattern depends on how you combine the elements. The contrasts are quite powerful and beautiful, but that is also thanks to the very clean graphic design. Naturally, there are only so many combinations you can achieve, so you are going to stop seeing new things after a while, which is kind of a bummer.
A great idea that can be improved
In the end, Elemorphis is a bit too simple at the moment, but it can certainly be improved. More gameplay mechanics would be nice, and maybe more elements or patterns could be added as well.
