Description
Cooperation is a key aspect of many video games, especially in those that allow multiple players to work together to overpower the enemy team. However, many prefer to ignore this aspect and work alone, which is especially frustrating in MOBAs and first-person shooters. Thankfully, single player games can offer you a pleasant experience as well, and you do not have to count on anyone else.
Get the robots together in order to form a golem
Golemaze is a pretty interesting puzzle game in which you have to navigate mazes and overcome a variety of obstacles in order to get two or more separate robots in the same place. They all move at once whenever you use the directional keys, which means that you have to think ahead and calculate the path for each one in order to avoid getting stuck.
However, your greatest worry is to watch for obstacles that block your way, because they must be negotiated with care. Hence, certain doors only open from one side, which means that it’s important to calculate where every unit is positioned before making a move. There are other types of obstacles as well, not to mention the items that allow you to block one of the golems and move the others independently.
Simple graphics and even simpler puzzles
Although the game is not yet complete, it must be mentioned that the mazes are a tad too simple at the moment, since it only takes a few seconds to figure out what needs to be done. This takes the joy out of the challenge, since it’s only a matter of moving as quickly as possible. Naturally, the difficulty can be fixed in later updates, and this really needs to happen to get the most out of the game.
As for the graphics, they are pretty simple and colorful, but they do not affect the quality of the gameplay. Hence, the top-down view and the bright colors work nicely together to provide you with a clear look of the obstacles you must overcome. In addition, the controls are also very smooth and responsive, even if it’s a bit counterintuitive to control multiple characters at the same time.
A neat concept that has the chance to evolve
In the end, Golemaze is not a breakthrough in the genre, but it’s original enough to be worth your time and attention for a few minutes. The few levels available at the moment are too simple to pose a challenge, but maybe future updates are going to kick it up a notch.
