Description
Mazes are always intriguing and exciting for those who enjoy a puzzle, but few games feature them anymore, at least when it comes to serious productions. However, indie developers are still creating all sorts of games that go back to basics, which is great if you don’t feel like playing outdated titles. Hence, there’s a huge collection of casual productions to choose from nowadays.
Complete mazes using simple gameplay mechanics
Everything I Touch Turns to Blood is a simple puzzle game in which your goal is very simple: pass over every tile of the maze only once and avoid cutting yourself off. However, the challenge increases with every new level, especially when it comes to the complexity of the labyrinths and the number of moves you have to make. Even so, it’s not the toughest game out there, not by a long shot.
In fact, the whole thing was designed for a jam that encourages absolute simplicity, which means that the developers were demanded to have a maximum of five assets included in the game. Hence, it’s impressive to see such a fun game created from a handful of objects, not to mention the fact that it includes a few other components that allow you to extend the fun for as long as you wish.
Use the editor to create your own levels
An editor is included with the game as well, one that allows you to come up with the desired patterns and layouts for the mazes. This way you have the freedom to come up with tougher challenges and share them with your friends. Your imagination is the only limit, although you still have to work with the same assets as the original developer, which adds a few restrictions.
As you might expect, the graphics are nothing to write home about, since the five assets rule excluded the need for textures or anything too fancy. Hence, everything is barren and unimpressive in this regard. Even so, the puzzles should be enough to keep you distracted and entertained for as long as you want.
A neat game with a helpful tool included
In the end, Everything I Touch Turns to Blood is obviously not a revolution in the genre, since the gameplay mechanics are as old as grass. However, the fact that it achieves so much with so few assets, plus the fact that it includes and editor as well, that’s more than enough reasons to give the game a try.
