Description
Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful fighting games ever put together, spanning over a long series of releases since 1992. It introduced the five button control scheme and enabled players to test their skills in the AI tournament or against other people.
Win the tournament to save Earth
The plot of the game follows Liu Kang who has to defeat Shang Tsung and Goro before they destroy Earthrealm. Before the monk has the chance to face the two, he must first prove his skills in the Tournament against other great warriors.
The game features the seven iconic characters you very well know, Johnny Cage, Kano, Sub Zero, Sonya, Raiden, Liu Kang and Scorpion. All of them have the same core moves when throwing punches and kicks but also have their signature attacks. Information about the characters can seen when the player finishes the tournament with each one.
Deliver combos and finishing moves
Mortal Kombat uses the five button scheme which enables players to perform a wide range of attacks and combinations that could easily surprise an opponent. Since all characters were built to be identical (except for the individual special moves), winning or losing always comes down to who has the best reflexes and attack strategy.
Apart from signature moves, each character can perform a finishing move called the Fatality. Each fighter has his or her unique way of performing the aforementioned move but there are also those that are common to all. For example, knocking the opponent off a bridge and onto some very sharp spikes.
In terms of gameplay, Mortal Kombat is not as fast paced as the more recent titles but even with over two decades behind it, it’s still a challenging and fun game to play.
The one you have to have in your games archive
To sum things up, there’s really no need to direct huge amounts of compliments to the game. It was the game to have and it set in motion successful franchise that kept on delivering perfectly balanced fighting games that had plenty of gore, blood and fantastic combos to perform.
