Description
Most animals have some sort of intelligence that helps them survive in the wild, but probably none of them are able to find a sure way to survive if the whole planet is about to be destroyed. You only need to think of the dinosaurs and see just how bad can things get if something big enough has it in for the planet, or if some sort of super volcano decides to turn half the continent to breadcrumbs.
Help the animals avoid certain death
Galactic Animal Savior is a funny 2D platformer in which you have to do your best in order to save and rescue a few alien animals from extinction. Although the process is not very gentle, it’s the only way to ensure both your and their safety, given the fact that some of them are liable to attack once you approach them. On the other hand, the game is pretty simple anyway, so don’t expect too much either.
In essence, there is only one playable level, in the sense that you cannot advance or get further into the story by saving animals. Thankfully, at least the layout of the level is randomly generated every time you start a new game, so boredom sets in a tad slower. Speaking of which, you only have two minutes and a half to gather as many critters as you can.
Throw the animals around to move them faster
Since one click throws the net and the other lets you pick up the trapped animal, the most obvious tactic is to get one and run back to the ship in order to save it. However, this takes far too much time, which means that it’s far more effective to just catch as many as you can and just throw them in waves toward the ship until you get enough. After that, it’s a race against time and it all depends on your precision.
You aim the gun using the mouse, so it’s quite simple to get the hang of it, although the throwing mechanics are a bit weird sometimes. In addition, the speed at which the animals are thrown is not always the same, so it takes a lot of trial and error to get it right. It’s also worth noting that the planet is destroyed anyway, so you die after the two and a half minutes are over.
A jam game that could turn into more
In the end, Galactic Animal Savior is still pretty barren and lacking features, but that’s only because the developers only had 72 hours at their disposal. If they decide to add more content, it would be nice to see more levels, more mission types and maybe more animals as well.
