Description
Bikes may be dangerous if you don’t know how to properly handle them, but they are also incredibly exciting to ride. There are many types of motorcycles as well, depending on what you want to do with them. Off-road bikes are very different from street bikes designed for speed, while stunt bikes are nothing like the big choppers used by bearded men for joyrides around the country.
Navigate perilous stages filled with obstacles
Extreme Bike Trials is an arcade simulator in which you get to play around with trial bikes and try to use their unique capabilities to overcome a variety of steep obstacles. The goal is to get to the end of each stage without falling from your bike, but that’s easier said than done. A combination of patience, speed and balance is needed to stay on the bike, otherwise you won’t make it to the finish line.
The game itself is not very realistic, which is especially visible in the physics engine and the way the bikes react to the environment. You are allowed to accelerate, brake, and move backwards or forwards on the bike to adjust your landing. Everything feels very arcadey, on the other hand, because there’s no real sense of weight to the bike or the rider.
Decent graphics and multiple bikes to unlock
As long as you are not bothered by the lack of realism, there’s plenty of fun to be had with the game. Each stage has its own charm and difficulty level, and the events get harder and harder to pass as you manage to advance. Your wins are rewarded with new bike models, as well as different rider equipment. The bikes seem to have different properties as well, so they certainly deserve the effort.
The visual quality is sub par too, but not ugly. While the game looks a lot more like a Flash flick than a PC game, the environments and the bikes are pretty detailed. Even so, the stiff animations have a negative impact on the overall experience. In the sound department, nothing manages to impress, but the effects and the music are mediocre enough not to be a huge problem.
A nice way to kill some time when you feel bored
In the end, there are much better trial games out there than Extreme Bike Trials, but that doesn’t make it horrible. As long as you lower your expectations and go in looking to have some mild fun, this can still be a great way to kill some time.
