Description
Tron has turned into quite the successful movie franchise over the years, even if it started as a video game idea in a Disney flick. Although it’s a pretty simple concept and it doesn’t take a lot of resources to recreate it on the computer, there are not many good versions out there. You can find a few, however, if you are not very picky about the quality level.
Race against your friends and outsmart the AI
Light Cycle 3D is a basic recreation of the famous movie scene, and it features every element from it, along with a couple of extra features. In essence, the goal is still the same, namely to outsmart the opponents and use your light trail to trap and destroy them. Moreover, you can choose between playing against the computer or other players over the Internet, which makes the experience that much more intense.
To begin with, the gameplay is as simple as possible, given the fact that all you have to do is keep moving and avoid the walls. All players compete on the same map, so it’s only a matter of time until some of them meet out there. You cannot attack or anything, but you can make life very hard for them, by trying to trap them. On the other hand, the same thing can happen to you if you are not careful.
Decent graphics and simple controls
Each bike travels in a straight line, and you can only change direction 90 degrees at a time, by following the grid. This is obviously quite intuitive and straightforward, but it may take you a while to get used to the fast-paced nature of the game. Not only that, but there are some special power-ups and abilities that can be used every now and again, such as to slow down time.
Visually, you should not expect too much from the game, especially since this is an indie production with a non-existent budget behind it. However, the graphics engine is three-dimensional, which makes the experience feel a bit more convincing. On the other hand, you cannot really change the camera angle, so you may have trouble looking around.
Challenge your friends to a game of Tron
All things considered, Light Cycle 3D is a decent recreation of the game it tries to emulate, so every fan of the movie should be more than happy with the results. Additionally, the real fun is in multiplayer, especially if you convince a few of your friends to play it with you.
