Description
Although it may not look difficult from an observer’s point of view, creating a good platformer is a lot of work, especially when it comes to fine tuning the gameplay mechanics. On top of that, the level design must be up to standards as well, because no one likes to explore boring landscapes just to perform a couple of risky jumps every now and again.
Colorful levels full of traps and dangerous pits
DPlox Parkour is a 2D platformer in which you have to get to the end of each stage in one piece, since no mistakes are tolerated when it comes to falling or touching any kind of nasty object. There’s not much more to it than that, which means that you might not fall in love with the game from the first few minutes. However, the platforming component is well-designed, so that should be enough to keep you engaged for a while.
There’s a funny story running its course in the background as well, although it has little to no consequence on the gameplay. Hence, the whole thing revolves around two siblings who are trying to defeat a great evil, who is actually a giant sock puppet. Humor is prevalent, but it’s not a very smart humor, just in case you are looking for something more classy.
Nice pixel graphics and precise controls
Each level has a few quirks you have to overcome, and each obstacle requires a certain approach. Your character can wall-jump and double-jump, which comes in handy in a variety if situations, but there are environmental objects that come to your aid as well. On top of that, you also have a sword that can deal some damage whenever things get serious.
As for the graphics, the pixel style is perfect for the casual approach to the genre, although it must be said that the levels can get repetitive after a while. Thankfully, the controls are always spot on and very responsive, especially when you consider the fact that you must use a keyboard. Moreover, there’s an electric soundtrack playing in the background as well.
A neat platformer for the fans of the genre
Even if DPlox Parkour has a few flaws when it comes to gameplay and level design, it can still keep you busy for a while if you love platformers. In addition, it also looks pretty neat, despite the simple pixel graphics.
