Description
Sometimes the simplest ideas can have tremendous effects if they are executed right, although that’s not the case every time. Hence, games like Bejeweled may have a rather basic idea at their core, but not every match-three game is going to enjoy the same success as it. In essence, the way the idea is presented matters a lot as well, which is why it’s important to make the game as accessible as possible.
Catch all the bunnies as quickly as you can
BunnyCatch is an arcade game in which your goal is to catch a couple of bunnies as quickly as you can and before the time limit ends. However, it’s not as easy as clicking on them, on the other hand, because there’s quite a bit of work involved in the process. Good reflexes and a fast hand are needed in order to accomplish the objective, which is much more demanding than it sounds.
As for the actual mechanics, the bunnies cannot be controlled directly, which means that you have to use other means instead. Thus, the whole thing takes place in a maze, and you can block the pathways using stop signs. Whenever they reach a stop sign, the bunnies rotate clockwise and choose the closest path. Naturally, you have to use this all the time in order to guide the bunnies around the labyrinth.
Collect bonuses along the way
Various other objects spawn throughout the maze every now and again, which can be picked up if you direct your bunnies toward them. Whether it’s carrots or extra stop signs, each one of them provides you with some kind of bonus. Speaking of which, you have a limited number of signs you can use, but thankfully you can pick them back up just as easily, which allows you to move pretty quickly.
On the other hand, there are all sorts of delays when you place or remove a sign, which causes a lot of unnecessary stress during the later stages of the game. Since the speed of the bunnies increases over time, you must react faster and faster, but that becomes pretty difficult to do when your clicks aren’t registered properly.
Colorful graphics and randomly-generated mazes
In the end, the great thing about BunnyCatch is that the mazes are randomly generated every time you start playing, which prevents boredom from settling too early. On the other hand, the gameplay mechanics and the controls are far too unpolished at this stage to be any fun.
