As the game at hand tries to tell us, some superpowers could be quite annoying and useless.

Scream your way through enemy-infested levels

The Vanishing Of Ninja Princess is a stealth game in which your sole purpose is to avoid contact with enemies, by making use of your special ability: becoming invisible while screaming. As you might have deduced already, being invisible while screaming is not exactly helpful, because enemies can still pinpoint your location, albeit maybe not as precisely.
There is no grand story to follow, since the game is merely an experiment thrown together at a jam by a handful of people. In essence, the end goal is to rescue a princess that got kidnapped. The main character is a ninja, which means that he moves quickly, but he doesn’t have a sword or any kind of weapon. Thus, you can only run and hide when something goes wrong, and it’s a pain to do so with all the traps lying around.

Avoid the mines and the turrets

Speaking of which, the task is that much more difficult when you consider the fact that you also have to be wary of traps, most of which can instantly kill you. Mines detonate the second you get close enough, but you can trick them by staying invisible. On the other hand, turrets can fire at you in rapid bursts, but they can only spot you if you stay in their range of vision. Moreover, enemies are constantly patrolling the rooms, so it’s definitely a challenge to get to the exit.
In case you get discovered by guards, you can find plants to hide behind, which is a good tactic, as long as you can get to one. The AI is not exactly mind blowing, but the enemies are pretty well coded to follow you and react to your actions. In addition, the visual quality is quite basic too, but it’s clean and minimalistic, so you do not have to worry about ugly 3D polygons or low-resolution textures.

A challenging experience with a twist

All things considered, The Vanishing Of Ninja Princess can be a little too frustrating at first, but it shouldn’t take you very long to understand how to pass the levels. Even so, the challenging gameplay is the element that keeps you pressing the reset button whenever you die.
