Description
Hobo Soccer is a casual soccer style game that’s so light in features and everything else that it’s a no-brainer. It was designed a few years back and for that reason you’ll have to excuse the outdated graphics and well, just about anything about its looks.
Play with players that are bouncier than the actual ball
Hobo Soccer can be played in single player and multiplayer modes and in both of them you’ll notice the same thing: how tricky it is to maneuver the players. Obviously this is not a game that was designed to simulate actual soccer gameplay so don’t expect anything remotely real from it.
Controls are easy to learn because you only have the four directional keys and nothing else. What’s a bit of a bother or fun (depending on which side you stand) is the fact that controlling the player is rather tough. It’s mostly like trying to play soccer on figure skating ring. To make things worse (or more fun), in Hobo Soccer players that hit the walls of the field ricochet quite hard, most of the times they will bounce more than the ball.
Multiple game modes to try out
Hobo Soccer is available in single player, multiplayer versus or co-op modes, all of which have the same rules. The difference is in who you face and how many of them there are. In single player and multiplayer co-op, you can play against one or more bots that represent the other team.
In co-op you can play with a friend in the same team and see if you can score some goals in the chaos that is Hobo Soccer. In versus mode, you and a buddy can see who is the most skilled when it comes to controlling the player on the slippery field.
A game that’s good because it’s just so silly
On a closing note, Hobo Soccer is barely decent if you want to compare it with other soccer related games but I don’t think it’s one that was meant to take itself seriously in the first place. So, if you choose to look at it from that point of view, it becomes easier to get and it can actually offer you a good couple of minutes of nonsense based fun.
