Description
Few things can be more annoying than a frustrating video game, especially when the frustration is all for nothing. Hence, players can gladly put up with insane boss fights in games like World of Warcraft, because they know they’re going to be handsomely rewarded for their efforts. However, Flappy Bird is the exact opposite, which is why it vanished from the market so quickly, even if it made some waves.
Control a plane and avoid the obstacles
Tappy Plane is an arcade game that copies the gameplay mechanics from Flappy Bird and replaces the silly duck with a plane instead. The environments are a tad different as well, but the fact remains that this is nothing but a Flappy Bird reskin. On the other hand, the graphics are much smoother, and the controls appear to be more responsive as well.
There’s not much variety to talk about or keep you entertained, because the levels become repetitive after a few minutes. Nothing special happens along the way either, since it’s just a long series of perilous rocks trying to stop you from going further. After so much time, you’d think game developers could think of something to add to the formula.
Purchase new planes
Granted, there is one difference that might keep you playing for longer than usual, although it’s pretty disappointing as well. Hence, you can also collect stars as you fly through the levels, and the stars remain in your account even after you die. These stars can then be used to purchase additional planes, and you can switch between them at the start of every level.
On the other hand, these planes are exactly the same, except for the fact that they are painted with a different color. There are no functional changes, which is kind of sad, given the fact that it takes quite a bit of time to raise the money for the most expensive plane. In addition, the graphics are too simple for all this to matter anyway.
The perfect way to test your patience
In the end, Tappy Plane is not a bad game, but the core concept is way too simple to be the kind of experience you’ll want to enjoy for hours on end. Hence, you’ll most likely stop playing it after fifteen minutes or so.
