Description
It doesn’t take much to create the proper atmosphere for a video game, but a couple of elements need to work together in order to achieve something memorable. Hence, the graphics and the soundtrack are by far the most noticeable parts in this regard, but it’s also important to pay attention to the way the characters talk and how the environments are decorated.
Make calls in order to cause trouble for a company
Supercontinent Ltd is an interesting puzzle game in which you play the role of a hacker trying to find out something bad about a company and maybe break into its systems. In order to do so, on the other hand, he must make use of a long-forgotten technology: the landline telephone. It’s obviously a pretty funny game, so you are not meant to take it seriously at all.
To begin with, the main character has a few aces up his sleeve as well, such as the fact that he has a gadget that allows him to change his voice to a random person, or imitate someone he knows. Thus, this can be used to trick people over the phone, as well as to make call after call to the same people without them realizing that it’s one and the same person.
Nice graphics and great soundtrack
The point and click mechanics usually require a sharp eye and attention to detail, but that’s not necessarily the case here, mainly because you never move at all. Thus, every visual clue should be easy to find in the find couple of minutes, although the actual puzzles are a tad more difficult than that. In essence, you might need to use instinct and a bit of guesswork to reach a verdict.
As mentioned before, the visual and audio presentation is mighty important when it comes to atmosphere, but Supercontinent Ltd takes the cake in this regard. Obviously, it’s a major bummer that there’s only one room you have to look at for the entire game, but it’s wonderfully designed, and the soundtrack goes perfectly with the colors and the mood.
A lot of potential that could be exploited further
In the end, Supercontinent Ltd is pretty nice at the moment, but it has the chance to be great if more content is added and the story is kept just as intriguing. On the other hand, you can be content with the few minutes of gameplay as well, just in case a longer version would ruin everything somehow.
