Description
Every now and again an artist comes along that changes the rules of the game by showing everyone a better way to doing things. Michael Jackson played a major role in the history of pop music, which is why everyone still considers him the king of the genre. There are millions of fans out there, and most of them like to put their knowledge to the test with quizzes and trivia challenges.
Match the albums by turning two tiles at a time
MemJackson is a very simple puzzle game in which you have to turn tiles two-by-two and remember their position in order to match them all. The ultimate goal is to do all of them as quickly as possible, although it’s important not to make too many mistakes either. Hence, you can keep track of your records and improve over time if you have the necessary patience.
The whole grid is filled with Michael Jackson’s albums, dating all the way back to the beginning of his singing career. The tiles are rather small, on the other hand, so you do not get to appreciate the artwork in any way, and it can sometimes be difficult to make it out if you are not familiar with the artist. This does not affect the gameplay, on the other hand, since you can easily spot the similar albums.
Listen to famous singles while completing the puzzles
There are no penalties for making a lot of mistakes, except of course that your final score is affected. Thankfully, at least the tiles you manage to match are clearly marked, so there’s no way you can confuse them and make mistakes because of this. In addition, the whole thing takes place while Michael’s greatest hits are playing in the background. Obviously, they are not the actual songs, but rather simplified versions that mimic the original melodies.
This is still a nice way to honor the artist, even if some of the songs fall flat without the awesome original instrumentation. In addition, the graphics are a tad too simple as well, and although that wouldn’t usually be a problem in a puzzle game such as this one, the lack of a pretty background and a more modern interface can take its toll on your eyes after a while, depending on your patience.
Not as memorable as the artist it pays homage to
All in all, MemJackson is a bit too slow and repetitive, but then again the concept is very basic to begin with, so it’s no wonder that the final product is simple too. Even so, you can have a lot of fun with the game if you are a big MJ fan.
