Description
You’re on a space voyage when all of a sudden an advanced alien race somehow manages to create portals into your ship and start an invasion. Equipped with some metal and your engineering degree, you have to quickly build defensive towers to protect the ship and its crew from the hostile swarm, that’s Spacejacked in a few words.
A great fusion between platformer action and tower defense strategy
Spacejacked is a game that blends together the platformer and tower defense genres into one really good looking game with a classy retro feel to it. The platformer component has you jumping around one of three levels that of course, have platforms on which you will be blasting alien invaders using your laser gun.
Since the action takes place in space, your character, Dave Paprovsky the technician, is equipped with some pretty handy gravity boots. They make it possible to shoot aliens while standing upside-down on the ceiling and also make you very agile.
Most of the time, the main character won’t be enough to deal with the incoming threat so quick thinking pays off. Throughout the sections of the ship you can build three types of towers that can do quite a bit of damage. Each one is different from the others and has its weaknesses or strengths against the aliens so combining them is key.
Fast paced action that makes the game fun and challenging
In Spacejacked you really need to be quick on your feet. Not only do monsters come at random, they can invade the three ship sections simultaneously. You can use a teleportation pad to quickly move between them but even so, you need to be careful to not appear between the aliens. You die quite fast.
The game will prove difficult even if you have plenty of experience with platformers and tower defense games. Spacejacked offers a well thought out combination of the two and at times, if your tower placement is not optimum, it will feel like the aliens are a bit overpowered.
A lightweight and seriously fun game
To sum things up, Spacejacked is a game that will certainly catch your attention if you’re looking for some platformer action. It looks good, it’s fast and challenging, and it’s certainly fun to play.
