Description

Shooting aliens is a fairly straightforward deal, given the fact that there’s usually no emotion involved and nothing to really make you consider your actions. Hence, it’s easy to create games like Doom, Crysis or various other similar titles, given the fact that the most important thing is to refine the gameplay mechanics to keep the players engaged.

An open map full of aliens

Shoot Them All 3 is a fairly basic first-person shooter in which the main goal is to kill as many aliens as possible while trying to stay alive yourself. There are no intriguing gameplay mechanics to make the whole thing feel engaging, unfortunately, so the experience gets repetitive and boring after only a few minutes. On the other hand, at least you can practice your aim a bit.
In short, the action takes place on the streets of a deserted town, and there are different missions to complete. Some of them require you to survive for a number of seconds, while others ask you to reach a precise number of kills. On top of that, there are missions that require you to hunt down and kill a specific alien, almost like some sort of boss fight, except a lot less exciting.

Poor graphics and many gameplay issues

The survival mode allows you to play for as long as you wish and amass points for every kill, but this obviously gets repetitive very soon, given the nature of the game. Thankfully, at least sometimes you play at night, which changes the atmosphere a bit. Even so, the glaring gameplay flaws that allow enemies to clip through walls and deal damage through doors are annoying enough to make you stop playing.
Lastly, the graphics are fairly unimpressive as well, especially in regards to level design and texture quality. The town is just a maze of streets and buildings with nothing special about them, making it difficult to orientate yourself sometimes. The monster animations are laughable too, but all of these issues would matter a lot less if the gameplay was more refined.

Many steps behind modern shooters

In the end, Shoot Them All 3 feels like something dragged from the previous decade, and from the discard pile no less. Thus, the game is not engaging enough to be worth your time, and it can even cause frustration because of all the gameplay issues.
