Description
Sometimes video games can be just a way to unwind and relax, without asking you to do anything in particular. Sandbox games are designed to let you do everything by yourself, including finding something interesting to build. Granted, this means that you need a bit of creativity to keep playing over long periods of time, but the results are usually worth the trouble.
A simple sandbox game to keep you distracted
Sandbox Play is not much of a game, given the fact that it doesn’t feature a story or anything of the sort, not to mention the fact that the gameplay is as simple as it gets in regards to mechanics and the things you can actually do. However, it can be the perfect place to think and waste some time when you need to relax and keep your eyes busy for a while.
In essence, this is basically like Minecraft, except without the complexity and the mining. Hence, your only goal is to use blocks in order to build things, which is easily achievable using the simple controls and basic interface. The whole action takes place on a rather small island in the middle of what appears to be an ocean, so you might be a bit restricted by the game in this regard.
Simple graphics and the possibility to destroy what you build
The other fun part of the game is the fact that you can blow up what you build, which is actually quite engaging. Hence, each block is actually a different material that behaves differently under stress and various other conditions. It’s worth mentioning that you first need to save the map you are playing on in order to activate these materials, otherwise nothing really makes sense.
As for the graphics, the game looks very much like Minecraft in most regards, but then again the whole block style is bound to be compared to Minecraft. There are no fancy special effects or anything of the sort, which means that your only care is to have a powerful enough PC to handle all the blocks you decide to build something with, because the game is not that well optimized.
A neat experience for creative gamers
Even if Sandbox Play is hardly original in any regard, at least you have the possibility to destroy buildings when you get bored. Hence, it’s easy to have fun with the game, especially if you enjoy erecting mighty structures.
