Puzzles are not always fun to solve, especially if you stumble onto them when you least expect it. However, they are pretty engaging in video games, and they allow you to put your mind to work in new ways. Mystery games are always tantalizing, despite the fact that not all of them are very well designed. Hence, it would appear that the thrill of searching for the answer is enough sometimes.

A dark world full of weird symbols

Owl Spirit is a top-down exploration game with a variety of puzzles included for good measure. In fact, the puzzles seem to be the main course on the menu, which is great if you are a fan of mysteries. On the other hand, everything is a tad too simple and symbolic sometimes, which may lead to confusion and boredom if you are not willing to stay focused.
The story is pretty much absent as well, or at least it is not explained using words. You play the role of what to appears to be a black figure, and the whole goal seems to be exploration. The world you get to see is a collection of corridors and black walls, which leaves little to the imagination. On the other hand, the atmosphere is pretty creepy, which should be enough for some of you.

Figure out the secret language

As mentioned before, the puzzles are pretty tough to figure out, especially since there is no text to help you along. Instead, the only way you can interact with the game world is by activating various stones and buttons, each one of which features a strange symbol on it. Whether it’s a language or just random symbols, it doesn’t really matter, because you still have to figure it all out.
The graphics are nothing to write home about either, especially since there are only a handful of colors used throughout the adventure. On the other hand, the dark style may help a bit with the atmosphere, even if it makes it difficult to see alternative paths. The music is pretty creepy as well, so you should be able to get in the proper mood whenever you start playing.

An interesting concept for patient gamers

When it’s all said and done, Owl Spirit is not the best puzzle game out there, but it is intriguing. In addition, the tough puzzles might attract those who want a challenge and are not swayed by ambiguity.
