Description
Although war is described in history books as a conflict that starts in a certain year and ends in another, things are rarely as simple as that. Hence, even if the second World War ended in 1945, it took much longer than for the world to recover, since there were many countries in ruins. Not only that, but the economy needed a few more years as well, while people needed time to forget.
Visit a reconstructed city
Arnswalde VR is a virtual reality experience for Oculus Rift, in which you get to visit an old city and see what it looked like before it was almost completely destroyed during the second World War. While the project was started in order to show the inhabitants of the actual city, you can still have a great deal of fun with it, because the simulation is incredibly well done and convincing.
You’ll have to find out more about the city yourself, on the other hand, because it’s not a very famous one. Basically, 80% of it was destroyed during the war, although the developers claim it was 95% instead. The town was rebuilt after the conflict ended, but it obviously doesn’t look the same, and not all the buildings were deemed worthy to be rebuilt.
Move around and jump from one vantage point to the other
You can even walk around town and look at it from every angle, which is quite impressive for such an ambitious project. It is also possible to jump between different locations by just looking at certain spots, which is obviously more convenient than walking. On top of it all, you can also climb on top of tall buildings and get a better view over the entire town.
As far as the graphics are concerned, the game certainly looks nice, but there are some issues when it comes to glitches and clipping. It’s not very serious, on the other hand, and you can safely enjoy your journey without worrying about it too much. In addition, the experience is very convincing and immersive, which is not something you can say about all VR games, unfortunately.
A great way to relax and explore a wonderful city
Even if you are not an inhabitant of the city in question, Arnswalde VR can be the perfect way to enjoy your Oculus Rift headset and have a virtual walk at the same time. In addition, the graphics are gorgeous, at least if you have a computer powerful enough to enjoy them.
