Description
Mibibli's Quest is something you can and can’t really describe. In appearance, it’s a pixel graphics platformer that aims to recreate the look and feel of old’school games but in essence, it’s a totally hectic adventure that constantly takes you by surprise due to its creative difficulty.
A game that’s as an usual as it is fun to play
Mibibli's Quest won’t throw you into a dungeon to rescue a damsel in distress but it will put you in some pretty strange worlds that you need to traverse for some unknown reason. The only thing that’s actually normal about this game are the controls which are those shared with all so many other platformers.
This allows you to quickly get acquainted with how the character can move and how agile he is. However, this doesn’t mean that you’ll be fully prepared for what’s coming your way. There are enemies to shoot at using purple ninja stars, robots that want to frame you (and literally will), traps to avoid and more traps to avoid.
Tough but just the right kind of tough
A lot of creativity went into Mibibli's Quest and that’s a fact. There are a few platformers that manage to reach this level of mechanics nonsense and actually put a smile on your face. Mibibli's Quest is full of surprises at almost every turn and they tend to show up exactly when you feel that there’s nothing else to kill you by surprise or in an unexpected way.
Emphasis also needs to be placed on how ‘out there’ level design is. Puzzle platformers are one thing but this one fits into a niche of its own. Things aren’t crazy difficult but luckily for you, there will be sufficient moments when you’ll need to strain your brain.
Epicly unusual boss fights
Mibibli's Quest is probably the first game in which an end-level boss simply gives up after he makes a fool of you. And when that happens, you don’t really know how to feel but at least you get to move on.
On a closing note, Mibibli's Quest is a weird and weirdly satisfying game to play and win. It has all the right strong points for those who enjoy games that have that extra something in terms of gameplay.
So, download it, try it and if you enjoy it, feel free to stop by the developer’s homepage to show your support and appreciation for the free game you just played.
