Description

The action in grepr takes place in a future where information is extremely valuable and stealing data is what you do. You’re in control of an AWK drone and you have to use it to quickly navigate vast structures to collect data, all while avoiding danger.

Excellent gameplay and atmosphere

Right off the bat, in grepr things are done differently than in what you’re probably used to when it comes to a FPS, and that’s one of its selling points. Playing as a small spy drone, you have to grapple on to any surface you reach (walls, ceilings, floors) and find the data packets that are needed without breaking stealth.
The game requires only your mouse to play, because you just have to point the cursor to the point you want to launch at and clicking one button does the job. Although things sound easy enough, that’s not the case. Every time you latch on to a surface you will be facing the area from where you came and a keen sense of orientation is crucial.
Moreover, depth of view is limited, allowing you to see only a small distance in front of you. This, along with the nicely added film grain effect and the minimalistic / wireframe word design manage to create an atmosphere that is wonderfully tense.

Not your simple jump and collect game

Unfortunately, grepr is a really short game but on the bright side, it’s worth every second of gametime and to be honest, it delivers a heck of a lot more excitement than plenty of other games.
At first things might seem a bit dull knowing that you just have to collect data but things pick up the pace right after the first mission. Apart from gathering data, you also have to avoid contact with bright-red patrolling humanoids that will kill you on sight, and you will also need to take out the competitor’s drones.
The latter challenge is a really fast-paced segment of gameplay that requires good reflexes, orientation and a bit of strategy.

A lightweight game that’s definitely memorable

Although it’s fairly explicit, the above merely sums up what the game is, it’s encouraged you give it a shot to see how it feels. It takes up a few minutes of your time but it will certainly be worth it.
