It doesn’t take much to keep a gamer occupied, especially if it’s a bored gamer we’re talking about. There are thousands of simple games out there that have the power to keep people glued to their screens for hours on end, even if the gameplay mechanics are as basic as they can get. Hence, everything that’s needed is a good motivation to keep playing.

Score as many points as possible and run as far as you can

Ghost Run is an endless runner in which you have two main objectives: avoid getting stuck behind obstacles and jump over gaps. However, things are trickier than that, although the actual rules are not explained at all in the game. Hence, it might take you a while to understand what everything does, especially when it comes to the masks you can collect along the way.
The masks are actually the most important elements in the game, because they affect the environment and your ability to avoid the obstacles. In short, there’s a timer that resets every time you pick up a different mask. You can only wear one at a time, but the game ends if you don’t change it before the timer reaches zero. Hence, it’s your choice whether to keep the one you are wearing or quickly swap them to avoid running out of time.

Killer plants and randomly changing environment

Although you start with a blank mask that doesn’t do anything special, each of the other masks has some sort of effect. Hence, one of them speeds everything up and makes it harder to concentrate, while another creates fans that throw you off balance when you get in range. None of them are particularly helpful, but some are more annoying than others.
The controls are very basic as well, since you only have to use to keys. One of them is for jumping, while the other one allows you to slow down a bit and get a better look at what’s coming up. Obviously, the timer does not slow down at all, so it’s not as helpful as you might think. The graphics don’t impress either, but they are more than enough for this type of game.

A great way to waste some time

All in all, Ghost Run is obviously not the type of game you remember for years after you play it, but it can be the perfect distraction when you have nothing better to do. In addition, it’s also quite challenging and addictive.
