Description
Crimelife 2 is a fan’s attempt of bringing the once 2D GTA into the 3D world. In this game, you play as a random dude who’s dressed in black and has nothing else to do but roam around a city.
An attempt for which we can at least appreciate the effort
Long story short, Crimelife 2 is something that never got done. It’s a 3D game with almost decent graphics that aims to recreate Grand Theft Auto gameplay. The game starts with you, the nameless protagonist who arrives home by bus, and that’s it.
Once you reach your destination, there's just silence and a motorcycle parked in the driveway. There is no story to follow and no missions to accept from the nearest phone booth. You just, roam around in an incomplete game trying to make the best of it.
Gameplay that’s awkward all the way
Like in GTA you get to steal cars, buy guns and shoot people, and eventually the cops will chase you too. There are a few car models to choose from and that’s actually the only acceptable thing about the game, the fact that the vehicles look nice.
The gameplay is exactly like you would expect it to be in a game that’s 10% complete, glitchy, strange and awkward. You can enter a museum but there’s nothing to do, you have a mini bowling game that robs you of a lot of money and the worst part is that your character can’t even throw a punch. That’s not the GTA way.
Something that’s an example of how not to start and then abandon a game
Fan-made or not, Crimelife 2 has no chance of passing as a decent game, or even close to that. It had a good idea to work with, and maybe, just maybe if it got more work done it might have been at least interesting.
