Description

CLC Dream Test Drive is a racing game designed to showcase the Mercedes-Benz CLC 350 and what a great piece of german engineering it is. It’s the only car you’ll be driving across several tracks, competing against drivers who are at the wheel of the same automobile.

A hybrid between bumpercars and demolition derby

CLC Dream Test Drive is a decent looking game by today’s standards and a good one by those from a few years back when it was released. However, looks aren’t everything to a game, especially a racing simulator.
This one fails hard at a lot of key elements that define the genre. First off, the engine sounds nothing like that of the real car, handling is disastrous and after these two, everything else just falls apart. What’s the point of creating a game that highlights the CLC 350 if the only thing you’re left with after playing it is the understanding that you can’t steer this car at 30 km/h, or 75 km/h?
Each race you start pitches you against five other cars that are identical to yours and there’s a chance that you will never witness worse AI drivers than those. Crashing into stuff is what they do best and the poor crash mechanics make it seem like you’re playing bumper cars in a Benz. It’s just terrible to see.

Your only chance of winning a race is to master handbrake turning

After the first race it becomes very clear that this game was built and launched in a hurry. It’s hard to imagine that someone at Mercedes allowed one of their cars to be promoted through this game. Although, it’s pretty clear that that wasn’t the case.
The only thing you need to see in order to agree that CLC Dream Test Drive would have made sales to plummet is how the handbrake works. You can’t really describe it in words because you have to see it to believe it. The car slides without any respect to physics or logic.

Not worth the time, especially if you own a Mercedes, of any kind

To wrap it up, CLC Dream Test Drive looks ok but that’s just about it. And the designs for the tracks are nice too, but that’s it.
