Description
Cars are not as easy to drive as portrayed in most arcade games, especially if you want to drive them at high speeds. Hence, there’s only so much control you have over the vehicle after a certain speed, so it’s important to know how your tires react and how to brake effectively before a turn. Naturally, there are pure breed simulators out there as well, but they are not for everyone.
Drive cars around town and explore the map
Driver Simulator 3D 2015 is a racing game that allows you to experience a bit of realism when it comes to car handling, but it’s obviously a very basic portrayal of the real thing. However, at least you can choose to activate certain safety features such as ABS, ESP or traction control. Thus, the cars get significantly harder to control once these features are disabled and you are solely responsible for every move.
There are a couple of different cars to choose from, including a bus and a pick-up truck, so the experience varies from vehicle to vehicle. Unfortunately, the world map is very small and very empty, featuring no traffic and only a couple of streets. Hence, although the driving model is pretty interesting, there’s nothing to keep you busy when it comes to actual content.
Basic graphics and simple controls
Besides steering, you also have key bindings for the various systems that can be activated or disabled. On top of that, you can also switch between a few cameras, depending on which one is the most comfortable for you. As for the car handling, the cars feel pretty heavy and enjoyable, but the physics are obviously very basic, so you shouldn’t use the game as a model for real life.
Speaking of which, the graphics are anything but realistic, although this part doesn’t really matter if you are having fun. Unfortunately, fun is in short supplies when the map is so small and empty, and it’s even sadder to see the blocky buildings that lack any kind of feature or detail. The same goes for the off-road sections which are basically a single texture with a few ups and downs.
A nice introduction to driving simulators
Even if Driver Simulator 3D 2015 is way too simple to be classified as a simulator, it can serve as a nice basis before you try actual simulators. In addition, at least it provides you with multiple vehicles to choose from.
