Description
Driving a vehicle through the desert must a pretty liberating experience, given the fact that you are almost free to go as fast as you can and not worry about obstacles. However, that is not always the case, not to mention the fact that very few vehicles can handle the harsh environments. Thankfully, we have video games to help us simulate the experience from the comfort of our homes.
Drive a buggy as fast as you can
Buggy Simulator 2015 is a simple racing game in which you get to control a buggy and fly around the desert more or less freely. There is a purpose to the whole thing, on the other hand, and you also have to watch out for obstacles along the way. In addition, the mechanics are very basic and disappointing sometimes, depending on how big your expectations are before you start playing.
In essence, the mission is to drive around the map and pick up crates by driving over them. These crates are mostly symbolic, on the other hand, because you are not actually carrying them around or transporting them anywhere. Thus, it’s almost like collecting rings in Sonic, except that in this case you do not receive any kind of bonus for picking them up.
Small map and a lack of imagination in the level design department
Although the map is open and apparently quite big, the truth is that it only takes you something like thirty seconds to drive from one edge to the other. There are invisible walls that stop you once you hit the limits, so the whole thing feels a tad claustrophobic actually. You can rejoice at the sight of the occasional building and cactus, but they are obviously not enough to make the experience feel worthwhile.
The controls are a bit too jumpy as well, since a simple tap on a directional key sends your buggy into a drift. The bumps and dunes make it even more difficult to keep going straight, but that’s only natural in an environment such as this one. Speaking of which, the graphics are fairly poor as well, or at least they appear to be, given the lack of environmental objects.
Enough content to last you for a few minutes
Even if Buggy Simulator 2015 has a pretty neat idea at its core, the execution is not good enough be as fun as it sounds. Hence, there’s too little content for players to enjoy themselves for longer than a few minutes.
