Crush Race 3D

Racing is a pretty popular genre on all platforms, including consoles, smartphones and PCs. However, each platform has its own specialty, because it’s a lot tougher to integrate a simulator on a smartphone than it is to develop something short and sweet for gamers to enjoy for a few minutes every now and again. Hence, the PC is where you can find the true simulators most of the time, although consoles like PlayStation have a word to say in this as well.

Destroy your enemies and make it to the finish line

Crush Race 3D is a racing game in which the only goal is to be the fastest one on the track, while trying to stay in one piece until the race is over. Hence, the cars are destructible and actually quite fragile, so it’s better to avoid collisions with the other drivers as often as you can. On the other hand, it’s also fun to see whether you can outmaneuver and eliminate them out of the race completely.
It must be mentioned that the game is the very definition of simplicity in almost every regard, especially gameplay. Thus, there is no car or track selection screen, since your only options regard the number of opponents and the number of laps. On the other hand, it’s nice to see that you can add up to 50 other racers, which makes for very interesting experiences.

Poor graphics and lousy controls

The car drives extremely poorly, which makes it that much more difficult to avoid obstacles or perform finesse maneuvers whenever other racers get too close. On top of that, the car appears to run on ice at all times, since even the slightest turn of the wheel can send you into a uncontrollable drift. Since the track is full of obstacles and nasty walls, the control issues get pretty annoying after a point.
The graphics seem to be borrowed from two decades ago, which is a bit of a bummer, given the fact that the engine used is actually Unity, which is quite potent in the right hands. However, the main culprit for the lack of quality textures and special effects is the fact that the game is designed to run on mobile devices as well.

Not a very great racing game, but a neat distraction

In the end, Crush Race 3D can easily keep you busy for a while, especially since it’s fun to see fifty cars going for a race. Unfortunately, everything else is pretty annoying and awful, so it’s not the kind of game that sticks with you for more than a few minutes.
