Description
People have tried to create the perfect racing game for a few decades now, but the truth is that there’s no such thing as perfection that satisfies everyone. Instead, some people prefer absolute realism and a grip model that makes them cry with frustration, while others would much rather enjoy the actual driving and not worry about excessive realism.
Buy and tune cars to your liking
Mad Gear Exclusive provides you with the opportunity to see the fun in racing and let everything else fade into the background, although it must be mentioned from the start that the mechanics are too basic to keep you engaged for long. Hence, this is more of a temporary distraction than a game you go back to time and again, especially since there are much better racing games out there.
To begin with, there are multiple cars to choose from, but only one of them is available in the beginning. In order to purchase the other ones, you have to win enough cash to afford them, which is no easy task. On top of that, it’s also possible to acquire various upgrades for the vehicles you already own, in order to gain the upper hand during the races.
Simple graphics and annoying physics
The biggest problem of the game is the handling, because the cars do not react like you think they would, which makes it difficult to steer. The vehicles slide when they are not supposed to, and they oversteer in almost any circumstances. This makes it difficult to drive smoothly, especially when the AI does not seem to have this problem and can just fly past you in otherwise difficult corners.
As for the graphics, they are rather cartoony, which is not exactly a bad thing, except when it comes to the proportions of the cars. It breaks immersion when you see how silly the vehicles look, but this is only apparent when you look at the car from the side. Since this doesn’t happen very often, you can forget all about it.
A simple game that keeps you busy for a few minutes
All in all, Mad Gear Exclusive does not have what it takes to keep you engaged for more than a few minutes, but then again that might be enough for some of you. Moreover, the promise of new cars and better upgrades might just help you get over some of the annoying parts.
