VoYD is a hack and slash game that uses and exemplifies the meaning of the phrase ‘less is more’. In this case, less graphics and more fast-paced fighting. It’s a wonderful little creation that’s almost perfect for those who are looking for intense short bursts of combat .

A game It’s all about reflexes and high scores

In VoYD things are very simple when it comes to what you do. Kill every enemy that exists in the current level and don’t die. It’s as simple as that on paper but once you get into it, you’re in for a pixel beatdown, or rather cutdown.
Your main character is able to swing a sword with great ease, speed and power so he’s more than ready for a fight. The problem here aren’t his combat capabilities but rather how well you plan and time your attacks because your opponents are rather merciless and equally dangerous with the weapons they carry.
Also, your little fighter is quite fragile, a few direct hits and you start all over again.

Design and gameplay that are just the right kind of basic

In the looks department, VoYD is created to offer a basic sense of space and that’s achieved with the help of some stylish pink and light teal squares and circles. Somehow it’s like it wants to say that it’s made for gamers that belong to both genres.
The gameplay in VoYD is something you should be familiar with if you enjoy hack and slash games. Both movement and fighting are done using the mouse and occasionally, but actually often enough, you will have to use the Space key to dash away from danger or plunge right into combat.

VoYD is fun, fast and very punishing, but it’s also addictive

On a closing note, VoYD simple and simply great. There’s not a lot to it when it comes to features but once you see how fluid and immersive combat is, you forget about those things and dive right into the action. Indeed, less is more.
