Description
Super Mario X is another take at the popular platformer that seems to never age or loose fans. This release makes use of the same gameplay idea and story, you are still Mario and you still have to rescue the princess from Bowser.
A more childish approach
In terms of graphics, Super Mario X is in a lot of ways more modest that many of its competitors. The graphics are rather poor and the world is fairly boring to look at. With this version of Mario, a lot of the original charm seems to have faded away.
However, the character designs in Super Mario X aren’t really all that bad, they tend to look a bit more goofy and we mean that in the good way. That aspect alone should make it more attractive to the younger age and probably just to them.
Not as fun as the original
At first, Super Mario X is just as simple to play as the real thing. You get to jump around to collect coins, pickup special mushrooms that make you more powerful and stomp on the critters that are in your way.
On the not so good side of things, the world around you seems to go haywire from time to time. Some jumps are simply impossible or you get no hints to help you out. A lot of the time you find yourself falling off a ledge only to respawn in mid air, falling continuously until you lose all your fifteen lives.
A rather poor alternative for Mario fans
To wrap things up, Super Mario X is nice if you want to take a peek at how it looks and feels but on the long run, it will not be the best couple of hours you’ve spent.
