Description
Super Mario: The Star Finder is in no way a Mario inspired platformer so if you were looking for that, you need to look for something else. This here is a casual game that was created to either help you pass a bit of time by or to completely rob you of a couple of minutes from your day.
A game that’s just about looking for something and clicking it when you see it
In Super Mario: The Star Finder all you have to do is stare at an image and spot a certain number of yellow stars. The goal is to click all the existing stars that are more or less cleverly hidden inside the pieces of digital art.
Once all of them are identified, you can move on to the next image to do the same thing. The difference between them being that there are more of them, and a bit tougher to spot.
Not that much to it but it’s something…
Super Mario: The Star Finder is as a lightweight game from every point of view. It doesn’t take up a lot of space on your hard drive, it doesn’t eat up resources, it’s not difficult to play and it certainly isn’t a long game. In fact, just as you sense that things are getting just a bit more complicated, you’re greeted with the ‘Thank you for playing’ screen. It’s not a rewarding game at all.
You’re not even timed while you play, and there is not score to keep track of. On the other hand, this is exactly what you would have a small child play for a bit of amusement. So, as far as its potential with the very young audience goes it’s an ok game.
There could have been more to this game, but there isn’t
On a closing note, Super Mario: The Star Finder could have had more to it. For example a few goofy sounds would have been fun to hear now and again, or maybe some stars should have been hidden behind some neat little puzzles.
